Norman-and-Linda-by-HiltonNorman Sanderson was born in Lumberton, NC on July 7, 1951.  The son of a farmer, Norman and his six brothers and sisters worked on the family farm through their entire youth.

Norman graduated from West Columbus High School and attended North Carolina State University, focusing on Agricultural Education.  Norman later earned a BA in Christian Education from Logos Christian College & Graduate Schools.

Norman and his wife Linda have been residents of Craven and Pamlico Counties for over 40 years. During those years, the strong work ethic learned in the early years on the family farm inspired Norm to become an entrepreneur who now has over 24 years of small business management. Norm has real-world experience as Director and Owner of Kid's Heaven School-aged Care Center with meeting a payroll, balancing a budget and making the tough decisions that keep his business thriving.

In 2010, Norman was elected by the voters of North Carolina House District 3 (Craven and Pamlico Counties) to serve in the NC House of Representatives, soundly defeating a Democrat incumbent with an impressive 64% of the vote. Norm quickly earned a reputation as one of the most dedicated and hard-working legislators in the General Assembly. In November 2012, Norman won a clear victory to become Senator of NC District 2, serving Carteret, Craven and Pamlico Counties.

Norman is a Christian, a Conservative, and a Republican - in that order. He believes in the sanctity of human life and is pleased to have received an endorsement from NC Right to Life. Norman believes in our 2nd Amendment rights and is pleased to have received an endorsement from the NRA. He also believes that marriage should be between one man and one woman.

Norman has served his community as past president of Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship America - Crystal Coast Chapter, First Vice Chair representing the NC Republican 3rd Congressional District, Past Chairman of the Pamlico County Republican Party, Secretary of the Craven County Republican Men's Club, and member of the Pamlico, Havelock, and New Bern Area Chambers of Commerce.
